First Post - Here We Go!

Just got my blog set up, it's so like me to wait until literally the last minute. I have to admit I'm getting a bit nervous; I haven't packed, I still have some shopping to do, and I just got my new laptop up and running. I leave in just over 24 hours - I've got the doxycycline in my system, a hotel room reserved in Nairobi (with just my first name, no credit card required) and should have most of the critical things I need, so no matter what I'll be heading off soon.

I'm going to miss everyone while I'm gone - please keep in touch, I'll do my best to entertain and inform you with my blog! For those of you who know my parents, please keep them company and remind them that I'll be back for the holidays soon enough.

Love,

Veronica

Jambo Veronica !! Happy to read that you're doing so well so far. I understand you're going down to Nairobi, probably with one of those small buses you mentioned. I've seen the main pickup area in Nairobi last year, it was a real mass - but a real spectacle as well !! I took a picture from a bar where me and Emy had a wonderful time and beer !!!! It is at a first floor, overlooking the bus area. I have no memory of the name of the place, but if keep your eyes above the mass you can't miss it !! I'm not even trying to send you a picture I've taken of it ... it would slow your connection down to death. Keep on writing your blog !!!!!

Cara Veronica,
Even though I don't have you courage, I definitely would like to visit Kenya and experience a bit of your adventures.
Keep writing, stay safe and be happy!

I miss your voice and your smile.
Love, Mom

Veronica, you amaze me! You are just doing it and I swear I can just hear voices of our mothers, sisters, predecessors cheering out for you ... this is what it means to be a woman! I love you with all my heart and will be so proud to show all my friends and family your blog ... I think you have cemented your status as the favorite "aunt" with James after this and there surely will be no more "someone has to leave the rooms" in your future. I wish I were there to live it with you, but am so grateful that you are living this experience for all of us at home. Come back with new wisdoms to share & if you meet some hunky Kenyan, he'd better come back to the states with you and his even hunkier brother! Any girl that can avoid being sold on the streets in Tijuana and find a way to stay friends w/ a girl she's known since birth surely has the smarts and diplomacy to live a year in Kenya & survive to tell about it!

Love,
Brittany
